Overcoming Anxiety and Fear through Yoga

Anxiety and Fear, how do we overcome these feelings when they consume our daily lives, or maybe present themselves when we least expect it. Acknowledging how we feel is key to understanding where some of this comes from. For many people who have imbalances in their bodies which can affect our mind, moods and emotional behavior this is very real. Not everything is cured with medication, some of the best methods to help you come from within yourself. Finding your breath and possibly finding some stillness and focusing on what is going inside yourself and opening up to speaking it aloud could be your first step. Asking for help to work through your anxieties and fears, not being ashamed of how you feel. Surround yourself with things that comfort you and invite someone to listen. When you recognize the things that trigger these feelings it is easier to address a solution. Remember everyone is going through something, you are certainly not alone. Find that safe place with individuals who are not judgmental and opinionated and share with them. Try some breathwork and meditation to calm you and get you centered. Begin a practice of yoga starting with breathwork and meditation. Believe you can feel better once you open yourself up to the idea of letting go and trusting yourself. We live in a fast paced environment with many things coming at us. Slow down and find your own pace. Healing begins with us, take a leap of faith in yourself and release the fear and your anxiety will begin to banish.

Reaction versus Take Action

Do you find yourself immediately reacting to situations, others words or actions before you even think about it. Have you ever thought about pausing first and taking a step back and looking at it with a clear view. Unfortunately, we live in such a fast paced reactive Society that we do not consider the consequences. What would happen if you could just wake up in the morning and have a clear and positive mental attitude about the day ahead. So why don’t we try doing this upon Awakening every morning by a little meditation and or prayer or both. Open your mind to positive affirmations, breathing techniques and the art of pausing. Learning to incorporate gratitude and good feelings can change everything about the outcome of your day. Surround yourself with positive people and let go of the notion that they will all be that way.

 

Find a way to change the things that don’t work for you by incorporating new habits. If you find that you are always tired and grumpy maybe you need to reevaluate the time that you go to bed, what your nourishing your body with, the ritual you do before you go to bed, what you do to get your day started. By changing some small things in your life you can make it richer and more fulfilling. If we’re not always expecting so much from every little thing we won’t be as disappointed in the things that don’t come so quickly. So be patient with yourself and others and find a softer space inside of yourself. This will lead to a more open heart and a healthier you. Inhale peace exhale Joy and share this with everyone. Strength and Stillness

How how do you define this? Is it true that to be strong you have to push so hard and always be on your game or is it possible if you could still yourself you may find all the strength you need. I think we come to understand this thought process when we let ourselves quiet our minds and let go of all the beliefs that are instilled in us to keep moving forward at such a fast pace. Success should never be measured by how fast you get there or how much you own. All of the tangible things in life are not always what they seem to be. When we choose to use our imagination, heartfelt inspiration and dig a little deeper we can create a life that is very rich and full.

 

To really have true strength you must find a self love and cherish who you really are. The power of your life flows through your breath and nourishes your very being. Rid yourself of negative thoughts and feelings which can destroy your spirit but also your physical body. Cherish your body by feeding your soul with uplifting and positive thinking. We are not in a race or competition with anyone, you will reach where you need to be when you are ready. Be passionate about your days and find joy in each one of them. Don’t try to map out your complete Journey just be on it. The ebb and flow of it all soothe you and relinquish good mentality of always having to be in control. Your Inner Voice

Let’s have a conversation, but not with anyone but ourselves. Do you listen to the voice inside of you? Some call this gut instinct. Sometimes we go over and over things in our head and our thoughts change rapidly. We forget that we need to process and look at all sides of all situations before we react and act upon them. In yoga we sometimes call this monkey mind, when you just can’t still your thoughts and be peaceful. Learning how to breathe and meditate and become still changes the very Dynamics of your inner voice. We all need to take the time to wind down and find that peaceful space where we can have clarity and joyful thoughts. Learning to rid ourselves of negative self-talk and feelings that bring us down. When we accomplish the positive in our voice we also become healthier mind, body and spirit.

When I first began my practice 16 years ago I had a hard time being still on my mat and in my mind. But through my Stillness I was able to tap into all the things I truly need. Is this difficult to do all the time, it can be. That’s why this is called a practice and the more you let yourself become still and meditative the more your inner voice serves you the peace and joy that we all want to find in life. If you have never tried yoga or meditation it may serve you so much that it will become a daily practice for you. When you start be open to the newness of it and learn proper alignment and breathing. Remember you are on a journey and all journeys are different from day-to-day. Respect the process and your body and let yourself absorb and let go. Remembering that this process is a work in instead of a workout. Be true to your inner voice and love yourself and respect your body, mind and spirit. Namaste my friends, Debbie, Feel Good Yoga Girl

Nourishment

What does nourishment mean to you? Nourishing yourself is so much more than just ingesting food into your body. As I have journeyed through the process of finding my true yoga self I have realized that you must nourish every corner of yourself to get to the point of feeling a sense of wholeness. By nourishing your body, mind,breath, soul, actions, reactions and thoughts you will become whole.
By learning how to breathe and be in stillness you can learn how to change your focus and enhance your life.

By beginning a daily routine of taking better care of yourself and making more optimal choices that work for you, you will rise up and feel your best. Some of my suggestions that helped me is eating clean, meditation, prayer, working in and out of my body through my strength training and yoga routine and finding the joy in all the things you undertake. Not every day will be perfect but by using the tools that you already have inside of you, you can tap in and make the best of everything. In turn you will have nourished yourself completely. Some good advice I got along the way with be patient with yourself and let yourself grow in time. Namaste, Debbie

Recipe for a cleansing and energizing soup,

Power Greens-Beans Soup

Organic Kale
Organic Swiss Chard
Organic Baby Spinach
Low sodium vegetable broth organic (2)
Cannellini beans organic
San marzano tomatoes
Olive oil, garlic, basil, sea salt, pepper

Salute Olive oil and garlic, hand crush tomatoes add greens, beans and vegetable broth. Cook down about 20 mins till greens are tender, add spices. Adjust according to how soupy you like. Enjoy.

You ask why Yoga for weight management? Yoga will improve your strength and flexibility as you will build muscle tone and burn fat. Also as you focus on your breath and go inside and still yourself you will learn to become more disciplined. As you lengthen and lean your body out you will become more confident and feel more energy. Incorporating yoga into your daily workout or lifestyle will absolutely change your attitude towards your daily goals in life. Creating this self talk that you need to push forward for a more positive, productive lifestyle. Once you let yourself experience this you will want to make this a daily practice. Your first yoga session

Getting started with your yoga practice. To begin your practice you must be able to find some clarity about the definition of it. Yoga is for strengthening, building flexibility, respiratory health and bringing awareness to the mind body and spirit. You will need to begin by having the tools you need to begin, which will include a yoga mat, yoga blocks and a strap. There are many more tools as you go along your journey into different practices. You will first learn the importance of your breath and how to connect it to your movement. Starting with a beginner yoga class and learning the basics and proper alignment in your poses. Your journey through your sequences and learn how to lengthen and strengthen your body by linking your breath and opening yourself. You will find a sense of calmness and grounding. As you practice more you will add on different poses to enhance your practice. You will then weave the knowledge you’’ve gained with your practice into your breath and movement. The first step is to get on your mat and learn to sit in Stillness and from there your practice will begin, journeying inside.
As you feel the benefits of this practice you will want to further yourself in this journey.
